I have a Sound Blaster, ?Creative Vibra 16X pnp? card that I have been trying to install in an old Compaq Deskpro 5166 which uses ISA. card slots. The only Driver I have for it is on diskette and is loaded with the install.exe command under DOS. The program was written for DOS, 3.1 and 95. I am running 98. Running the install wizard the prompt for disk location on the Floppy is looking for Setup.exe and comes back with no information found. If I go to the DOS prompt and load with the Install command, the System doesn?t recognize the card. Going to Settings, under Device Manager the information shows the card but has an ! In front of it.
Questions:
Is there a CD Version?
If there is no CD Version, is there a way I can edit the Diskette Version and replace the Install command with Setup? I know even if I can change this command, the program may not be compatible with 98.
It would be much easier to buy a new card, but the problem is there are no new ISA cards for a 166Mhz system on the market. After market cards or unknown and do not have any programs with them.
